WHAT NEXT?
You have spent years accelerating and supporting everyone else's career ladder. Now you're staring at your own path wondering: where on earth do I go next? Well buckle up sweet cheeks, I've got just what you need to make your next move with total confidence.
You spend your working life helping everyone else untangle their shit yet, when it comes to your own career one minute you’re DONE. Then you have a good day and you think, Actually, maybe I do still love this. Then something happens and you’re back to Nope. Fuck this. Round and round you go. You know something needs to change.
You just can’t work out what.
"Same shit, different company."
You nod attentively at yet another slide deck proposing yet another pivot, realising you moved jobs three years ago hoping for culture change and merely traded one set of politics for another.
"I should just be grateful. The salary is fine."
The classic 'professional' coping mechanism: gaslighting yourself into believing comfort and predictability should be enough because everything looks fine on paper.
"What if I just... retrain in something totally random?"
Scanning job specs for things you don't even want to do, swinging wildly between 'I could run a boutique consultancy' and 'maybe I'll open a quiet pottery studio in Devon.'
You spend all day helping other people navigate their careers, their managers, their teams, their problems and their decisions. You can spot what’s going on for someone else at fifty paces.
But when it comes to you, you keep putting yourself at the bottom of the list. Because finding proper time to think about what you actually want feels almost indulgent, or slightly selfish especially when there's always something more urgent.
So you keep going: exhausted by being so stuck, but too talking yourself out of all the alternatives because the unknown is scary and you're not sure you have what it takes to follow what you know you really want, deep down.
The line begins to untangle the moment you stop treating this like an all-or-nothing ultimatum.
When you’re exhausted by the politics, the firefighting, the endless responsibility and being expected to somehow sort out every human experience at work just because you're 'good with people', it makes perfect sense that your brain goes: I need to get out of HR.
Maybe you do. But maybe you don’t. There’s a really important difference between “I don’t want to work in HR anymore” and “I don’t want to do HR like THIS anymore” but when you’re knackered, pissed off and desperately trying to find an escape route, those two things can feel exactly the same.
WHAT NEXT? isn’t designed to persuade you to stay in HR, and it isn’t designed to persuade you to leave. It’s designed to give you enough space to work out what you actually want, before exhaustion makes the decision for you.
You don’t need to hand in your notice tomorrow. You don’t need a ten-year career plan. You just need somewhere to start.
It is not that you lack ambition or drive. It is that your brilliant mind has been running the exact same unresolved calculations in the background for eighteen months straight.
“Same shit, different company.”
What if I leave and end up with exactly the same shit in a different company? What if this is just what HR is like?
“Maybe the problem is just me.”
I should feel grateful for this salary especially when the market is so tough. Why can't I motivate myself or feel excited anymore?
“I will figure it out after [insert arbitrary timeframe / activity]”
Except after this project comes the next board review, then the reorg, then another year lost to momentum.
At work people rely on you. At home people rely on you. And somewhere along the way, thinking seriously about what you want has become something you’ll get around to when things calm down.
Except things never really calm down, do they? There’s always another project. Another restructure. Another deadline. Another problem that apparently requires your immediate attention.
Meanwhile, your career stays exactly where it is.
Not because you’re incapable of changing it but because you’ve had bugger all space to work out what you actually want to change.

You probably don’t need to think about this more, you’ve already done a lot of thinking. In the shower. Driving. At 2am. While scrolling jobs you don’t want. While listening to someone in yet another meeting and wondering how this became your actual life. The problem isn’t that you haven’t thought hard enough, it’s that trying to solve something this big in the tiny scraps of headspace left over after everyone else has had a piece of you is really bloomin' difficult.
You don’t need another qualification. You don’t need to rewrite your CV before you’ve even decided what you want. And you definitely don’t need to have the answer before you join (otherwise what'd be the point of me then hey?). Over four weeks, I’ll give you the structure, tools, questions and support to move from career limbo to career clarity and start doing something with it.
WHAT NEXT? gives you four weeks to do something different.
To get out of your own head and properly explore what’s going on.
To work out what you want more of and what you’ve had quite enough of, thank you very much.
To explore what else might be possible without immediately talking yourself out of it.
And ultimately, to make a decision about what comes next.
Four weeks of structured Momentum. Plenty of 'fluffy' because around here, we reclaim what that means.
Limbo isn't as vague as it can feel. Whichever one sounds most like you, you don’t need to arrive with the answer, you just need to be ready to start asking yourself some better questions. You might recognise yourself in one of these four distinct spaces:
You still care about the work. You still want to make a difference. But the politics, firefighting, workload or culture have sucked the joy out of it. You don’t necessarily want out of HR. You want to work out what HR could look like on your terms.
PATH: REDESIGN & FRACTIONAL
The thought of doing another version of this job makes your heart sink. You’ve started wondering what else you could do with everything you know but after spending years building an HR career, starting again feels terrifying. And what would you even do instead?
PATH: TRANSLATE & PIVOT
Welcome to peak career limbo. One day you’re leaving. The next you’re staying. Then you’re consulting. Then you’ve found a job that looks interesting. Then you decide you’re being ridiculous and should just be grateful for what you’ve got. You don’t need more options. You need some clarity.
PATH: CLEAR FOG & UNPACK
You’ve got a pretty good idea what comes next. The problem is everything that comes with actually doing it: money, confidence, risk, responsibility, the job market, other people’s opinions and the persistent voice asking, What if I fuck it up?
PATH: DE-RISK & EXECUTE
Four weeks of dedicated time, structure and support to help you get out of your own head and work out what you actually want.
No impulsively handing in your notice after a particularly shit Tuesday. No expecting you to have your entire career mapped out by week two.
Just the space you haven’t been giving yourself, the right questions to help you make sense of what’s going on, and practical tools to move you from stay, leave, consult, apply, retrain, hide under duvet - to making decisions you actually trust.

Are you done with HR or are you exhausted by your current version of it? What’s draining you? What have you outgrown? What are you tolerating because you’ve convinced yourself you should? Before you decide what comes next, we need to understand what you’re actually trying to get away from and what you want to move towards.
Not what looks sensible on LinkedIn. Not what someone at your level is “supposed” to do next. Not what makes everybody else comfortable. What matters to you now? What do you need from the next stage of your career? What do you want more of? What are you no longer willing to compromise on?
Another HR role might be the answer. So might doing HR differently. Or consulting. Something adjacent. Something completely different. A combination you haven’t considered yet. We’ll explore the possibilities without requiring you to immediately quit your job, remortgage your house or announce your exciting new career direction to the LinkedIn massive.
Because knowing what you want and doing absolutely fuck all about it is just career limbo with better stationery. You’ll leave knowing what you want to move towards, what needs to happen next and what your first steps are. Not your entire life mapped out, just enough clarity, confidence and courage to start moving.

I spent 18 years working in HR before building the work I do now, so I know this profession from the inside. I know what it’s like to be the person everyone expects to have the answer and to keep going because you’re capable of keeping going. To wonder whether the problem is you, the job, the organisation or the whole bloody profession. And I also know what it’s like to realise that the career you’ve worked incredibly hard to build might not fit you anymore.
Today, I coach women in HR to get the clarity, confidence and courage they need to make bold, aligned decisions about their careers and leadership.
My work brings together my HR experience, coaching, applied neuroscience and behaviour change, but I’m not here to give you another load of information to consume. Frankly, you probably have enough of that already. At some point, you have to stop assuming the answer is another course, another certificate or another few years proving yourself.
Sometimes the next step is simply giving yourself enough space to ask
What do I actually want now?
And then trusting yourself enough to do something about the answer.
Every option gives you the full WHAT NEXT? experience and everything you need to move from career limbo to career clarity. The only question is how much personalised support you want alongside it. Simply choose the option that feels right for you.
For when you need the space, structure and support to get out of career limbo and work out what you actually want.

Got questions? Good. Let’s deal with the things your brain is already using to talk you out of this (how did I know?!).
Absolutely not, in fact the majority of women who work with me choose to stay in people leadership, but under completely redesigned terms: better boundaries based on a clearer view of what role they want their work to play in their life. What Next? is about HR on your terms, not a mandatory career pivot.
I know the last thing you need right now is another thing on your never-ending to-do list. That’s why WHAT NEXT? is designed to take around 90 minutes of your time each week. You can expect focused time, useful tools and questions that actually help you think - designed to create some much-needed headspace rather than fill up what little you have left.
I know the job market feels tough right now and when you’re already questioning everything, scrolling through hundreds of jobs that either don’t excite you or make you wonder whether you’re even qualified enough is unlikely to help. WHAT NEXT? isn’t going to pretend the job market doesn’t matter, it’s going to help you get clearer about what you’re actually looking for before you throw yourself into it.
There’s a massive difference between desperately applying for anything that looks vaguely better than where you are now, and knowing what you want more of, what you’re no longer willing to compromise on, and what you bring with you. You can’t control the job market, but you can get a lot clearer about how you want to navigate it.
This isn’t about helping you become better at tolerating a career that no longer works for you. We’re not starting from the assumption that you need to be more resilient, manage your stakeholders better, sort out your CV or find cleverer ways to cope. We’re going further back than that. Does the career you’ve built still fit the person you are now?
Maybe the answer is yes, with some changes.
Maybe you need a different role, organisation or way of working.
Maybe you want to use everything you’ve learned in HR somewhere adjacent to it.
Maybe you’re ready to do something completely different.
WHAT NEXT? gives you the space and structure to work that out before you start trying to fix the wrong problem.
You’re not going to spend four weeks talking endlessly about how confused you feel and then leave with a beautifully bound folder full of self-awareness and absolutely no bloody idea what to do with it. We’re here to make decisions.
You’ll look properly at what gives you energy and what drains it, what you need financially, how you want your working life to feel, what matters to you now, what you’re bloody good at, and what you’re no longer prepared to sacrifice for a job title. Then we use that clarity to explore your options and work out what comes next.
The goal isn’t to manufacture absolute certainty about the next ten years of your life, it’s to get you out of career limbo with enough clarity to know what you want, confidence to trust your decision, and courage to start doing something about it.
Got a question that hasn't been covered? Feel free to email me on [email protected], or book a time to talk below:
You do not need to resign tomorrow, nor do you need an airtight 5-year plan. You definitely don't need to stay where you are and hope it will all work out. You just need the space, structured thinking, and guidance to stop tolerating what is no longer working.
